SAT Rhetorical Synthesis study notes
The notes are raw material; the student’s goal is the assignment. Underline that goal before reading the choices. A sentence can be perfectly true and still be wrong because it highlights the date when the goal asks for a comparison, or names a project when the goal asks for its outcome.
Worked example
Notes say one tree survey counted every block in one area and another used satellite images citywide. The goal is to compare strengths and limits. What should the sentence mention?
It should pair the detailed ground count with the satellite survey’s broad reach and its possible missed trees. Naming the two methods alone would not meet the goal.
